Whinny Farms:Stallion
Station was established by Kandy Hall in 1989 and moved to Burns,
Oregon in 2004!
Oregon's High Desert
Country!
Whinny Farms has always
housed between 20 - 40 head of horses. Being a “Hands On Ranch” 20
pens and 3 pastures we work with and handle horses 365 days a year
from sun up and sometimes through the night!
Kandy, being one of the
smartest people I know when it comes to horses and the business,
specializes in everything equine. Foundation Training, Western,
English, Dressage, Hunter jumper, ect. Reproductive issues from
live in-hand cover to Hi-Tech horse breeding.
She is very
knowledgeable in equine medicine, and is an avid pedigree researcher
- from old blood to new blood she's the lady to talk to. She has
studied Equine Reproduction under some of the best in the business,
including Embryo Transfer/Reproduction with Dr. Ed Squiers of
Colorado State University!
Kandy has lived extremely
remote all her life, and even after moving "to the States" from
Alaska, has continued living remotely. She has studied to become a
Vet-Tech, and together living so remote have had to take care of ALL
of our own vetting needs, having our medications shipped to us. We
have learned external to internal problems, and cures for them or
not. I want to say I have seen it all, but every time I say that -
something new comes up! :-o
I, Don Hall, am from Banks,
Idaho. I have been around & worked with horses on and off
throughout my life. I moved to Oregon, & started working with
Kandy at Whinny Farms:Stallion Station in 1994. We have trimmed & studied
bare-foot horses for a combined 17 years. (This derived specifically
from her "family" raising horses on the open range, and when we
bring them in to use and socialize, their feet are superb to some
we've seen that have had impeccable hoof-care trimming & shoeing
schedules all their life!).
We have spent many years
studying horses as a herd and as individuals and we feel we have
come to understand them as a horse from a horse’s point of view.
Specializing in foundation training we have worked with and trained
countless horses from babies to mature horses, including wild
mustangs, & tame or abused horses.
I have 14 years of daily
hands-on experience with horses working with behavioral problems,
and general training. I teach owners and riders proper horsemanship
from the ground up. We are experienced in helping others gain
confidence over their fears from past events, or current problems
they have, and help them to get back to realizing their dreams with
horses.
I love to work with and have
worked with many breeds of horses Arabians, Paints, Quarter, and
Thoroughbreds, to name a few. I have worked with countless Wild
Mustangs from California, Nevada, Oregon, and Idaho
ranges.
I spend most of my time
working with client horses and ride many disciplines, such as
Western, Reining, Dressage, and Trail. I am a big fan of European
and Spanish riding disciplines and like to practice the art of “Doma
Vaquero”, (translated as "Cowboy Riding" or "Country Dressage")
every chance I get.
Kandy has spent many years
working with and teaching me about the horses from the inside out -
from training to breeding & different medical
issues.
Mike is our son is a "hard-worker", he
helps out riding all the horses in training, and has a great
foundation as an apprentice, trainer hear at the ranch, (He's Whinny
Farms' enthusiastic "Crash-Test Dummy", but has had very few
crashes, due to the excellent groundwork our trainees receive before
they're ridden!) He did get some "crash-testing" done in Winnemucca,
Nevada on bulls & saddlebronc! His other hobbies are: anything
other than work, Training, riding, shooting, hunting, playing
basketball, and he's an excellent welder!
Katie, our youngest was born for
riding, (will ride anything), & loves to train & ride ALL
day! (Even her cow is not safe from riding - she has to lay down to
escape being ridden!) Her favorite sport is anything
horse! From English, Western, Hunter/Jumper,
trail, & more. Her other hobbies are raising cows & hanging
out harassing her big brother, she likes that a
lot!
Jeanne has been a close family friend of
ours for several years, and it is a pleasure to have her working
with us! She is very attentive to the horses needs, a good eye for
watching horses whether they need (or will need) medical assistance,
or even a date with the stallion - she is good help! She recently
graduated Wyo-Teck for diesel mechanics, and has a lifetime of
experience on a cattle ranch & horse breeding - we're
fortunate to have her
here! |
