HOME OF THE FOUNDATION EDUCATION TRAINING PROGRAM...

"WE PUT A FOUNDATION EDUCATION ON EVERY HORSE WE TRAIN!"

In developing a mental connection with your horse, we are waking up the horses mind and getting them thinking and learning with us.

"Jyra"

3yr old APHA Bay/Overo Filly - Redmond, Oregon

Jyra arrives for training in hand and starting under saddle.

Jyra is a sweet filly that does sport some attitude. She pins her ears (when stalled), we'll be working on respect, too.

*     *     *

mud!

sending her both ways...she had little arguements a time or two (mostly to the right)

good girl...

more sending...

going to the left is easy - going to the right is not easy, she is stiff & argues to the right

good girl...

lets check out the logs...             she starts crowding Katie...      needs to move over a bit...

she quickly comes back to crowding, so she bumps into Katies hand, and over the last big one - she did good

let's look at the block... (yes I need to get the mower up there!)

minimal asking, she jumps right up...and down before I got the dismount shot!       we'll try again...

Great leap!

and stand for a minute...GOOD GIRL!         and down nicely and in control

she spots the tire...

since she had problems backing out of the trailer on arrival, we work on stepping up and backing off the bridge...

good girl...

and go on across...

grooming...not overly thrilled with it

wearing the pad...                what is this thing?

tacking...

sending...

she still has a bit of trouble to the right, she will get better...

giving her face...

good girl...

teaching her to balance

girth adjustments...

and stepping up        good girl

wiggle stirrup                                         touching behind

asked to step over, she does...and a couple extra steps

aaack!

there, better...

just learning to pack the bit...

she tosses her head - usually when asked to go to the right...

more up and downs - left side...good

right side...she moves off (why we practice it so much)

there, better

move her hip over - get off presure

asked to give her face both ways - away from you

Jyra learns to stand quietly for the rope twirling around her...

stirrup pull

gives her face good                 asking the other side                         she resists

she starts to give                    there she's got it

dismounting, she wrings her tail, but does nothing wrong...she has been really good about keeping her attitude in check

she resists giving her face to the bit

Stirrup Slapping with Jyra - Excellent!

she's ready...

she's learning to lead by her cheek...         her after-lesson grain is in her stall...

guess I left the pan too close to the door, and she needed more encouragement to go past it   :-)

she's getting butt high...growing

checking out the truck...

it moved!

whew...

over the hose...

back up...                                                     good girl...

sending much better both ways now...

half circles on the wall...

why walk back when you can ride?

Go..............                    (yes, in a halter)                   Whoa................

Good Girl!

bitting up...

and getting up...

she's not allowed to go anywhere until asked...

she's getting the hang of this, and walking out good now...

needs some encouragement to go...             there better...

Jyra's 1st trot - good girl!

mounting up outside...

 right...                                           left...                                      back...

check girth                         up w/pats on rump

Good girl! (now rub out the pats...)

(in this series you can see how far she goes by watching the flag position)

          go...                                              whoa...                                                     back up...

backing...

good girl!                                        a few more steps (tail wring)                          and... VERY good!

reassurance...

looking in...

1st time at the gate...

and open it...

I think she is suspicious...

she starts going backwards                                                and gets in trouble & has to work now

more work                                                              fine...                                     spraying near her...

pretty, pretty!

heads up today!

working on improving her headset...

better...will need to continue asking for vertical flexing

head went up at whoa and back...overall she did good with this

great jump!

oops...refusal

work some more

good girl

great jump, now trot out and absorb

another great jump w/no refusal, and she's done here - great job!

that was a great lesson...now Jyra wants to be the teacher...

hope she's gentle with that   :-)

she's workin it...

oops, she dropped it...

Workin Circles...

whoa...                                     good

         back                                                         back                                                     back

good

and out she goes...

check out the logs

really checking out the dark area...

water...

other direction....                      no!

turn around, and this side is fine...

turn back around...                   she crowds your space...                     turn back around, she's fine...

are you sure you want me to do this?                          well, ok....                                       and back through   GOOD!

the paint that ain't??

a ride in the big arena...

all done...

bridling great!

pre-ride check...

she's wants to get anxious to go, and is asked to just stand and relax until asked to go

testing one-rein stop...good girl

reverse...

and whoa..well done

nice reverse...

double-reined, asking her to flex

VERY good, she understands what is being asked

but still has to argue a bit

there, much better (and leaving slack in her drawrein)

her turn is more collected

and so is her walk out - and still leaving slack - Excellent!
