Welcome!!!
To your horses personal training page where you can watchyour horse’s progress as we train them.
You will see many different scenario’s and desensitizing techniques that we work with.

NOTE: On Desensitizing

You can over-desensitize a horse if you don’t do it right, causing problems later on, such as control and safety problems.
When we are desensitizing (sacking out) a horse its not so much about the obstacle and or objects as it is the mental connection we are
establishing between your horse and us. We are waking up the horses mind and getting their gears turning and thinking and learning with us.

Spring 2012...

Turn out to play in the snow!

I had put Star out in the big outdoor arena to play, and while I was back in the barn with the doors shut, it started raining and she got soaked!
I ran out and got her, brought her in and put this big blanket on her, and she was totally fine with that, didn't even try to get it off.

We have asked Star to lay down twice.
It was had for her to do, as she had to momentarily give up her control, and trust Katie, but it was really good for her mentally.

It certainly helped her attitude, here she was able to eat from a haybag while Katie got her all groomed up. She is normally grumpy at food time.
